The Courage Jr. Rolling Timberwolves, back-to-back National Champions, were featured on the front of a Wheaties Box.

Speaking of the Timberwolves….Connor Downes, who made the game-wining shot (along with his 26 points) at last year Varsity national championship 51-50 win over the San Diego Hammer announced last Friday, May 8, 2009 that he’s continuing his education and basketball career at Missouri University. Downes finished his senior season (Rosemount, Minnesota) as an Academic All-American and named to the 2nd team All-Tournament at Nationals.
Mizzou finished the year with an overall record of 25-29. The 25 victories sets an all-time single-season high for the young MU program, more than doubling the previous mark. Downes will fit in well with his new teammates as last season the Tiger wheelchair basketball team posted a cumulative grade point average above 3.3 and had 8 Scholar-Athletes. Downes will be joining former Turnstone Flyers Varsity players Evan Moser and Andrew Tucker.
Interesting Nugget: Connor’s brother, Brendan Downes (also known as “B”) plays for the University of Arizona wheelchair basketball team. Brendan is majoring in Physical Education.
