Earlier today the USA men wheelchair basketball team defeated Great Britain in their opening match 63-41 at the 09′ BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester, England.
Former Junior Division players and current college elite athletes lead team USA:
Brian Bell (Lakeshore Lakers/University of Illinois)
19 Points 11 Rebounds (led team in points)
Steve Serio (Long Island Lightning/University of Illinois)
11 Points 8 Rebounds, 8 Assists
Chris Okon (Milwaukee Wheelin’ Wizards/University of Wisconsin-Whitewater)
17 Points (five three-pointers

- The BT Paralympic World Cup is the first major multi-sport elite disability event to be staged since the Beijing Paralympic Games.
- The competition will be staged in Manchester from May 20-25, 2009, with over 400 competitors from over 31 countries scheduled to compete.
Athletes will compete in four sports at world class competition venues in Manchester:
Manchester Regional Arena – Wheelchair basketball and Athletics
Manchester Aquatics Centre – Swimming
Manchester Velodrome – Track cycling
